How to Choose a Laser Engraver?
With the rapid development of optoelectronics technology, laser engraving technology is more and more widely used, engraving accuracy requirements are increasingly high. The four most fundamental elements affecting laser engraving are: engraving speed, laser power, engraving accuracy, material. In a particular material such as to achieve a certain carving effect, it is required to absorb a certain amount of energy of the laser, the energy should be seen as the material absorption of laser energy = laser power / carving speed. Simply put, to improve the laser energy absorbed by the material, you should increase the laser power or reduce the carving speed, as to which method is finally used depends on the material and the final carving effect.
Generally speaking, users will avoid high and low speed, because that will reduce productivity. In fact, the impact of carving efficiency is not only the carving speed, carving accuracy also has a very large impact on it.
Wood is by far the most commonly used laser processing material, it is easy to carve and cut. Light colored woods such as birch, cherry or maple can be vaporized well by the laser and are therefore more suitable for engraving. Each type of wood has its own characteristics, some are denser, such as hardwoods, and require more laser power for engraving or cutting.
Sometimes customers may ask you to carve on plywood, in fact, this is the same as carving on wood is not much different, but a bit to note that the carving depth should not be too deep. After cutting the plywood anti-edge will also be blackened like wood, the key is to see what kind of wood is used in the manufacture of plywood.
Laser engraving machine cutting wood depth is generally not deep, within 5mm, this is because the laser power is small, such as slow cutting will cause the wood to burn. The specific operation can try to use a large size lens, and the use of repeated cutting method.
Wood carving will generally have a burned feeling, with the wood base color with a primitive artistic beauty, the color shades mainly depends on the laser power and carving speed. However, some woods are usually soft in texture and you cannot change its color no matter what (e.g., birch). Sometimes the customer may ask you to color the finished product, you can use acrylic paint.
Density board is the kind of wood pallets we often use for sign liner. The material is high-density board with a thin wood grain attached to the surface. Laser can be carved on this tip material plant, but the carved out pattern color is not uniform and black, usually to color. Usually you can get better results by learning the proper design and using 0.5mm two-color board for inlay. Some density boards are specially designed for laser engraving, and the engraved patterns are evenly colored and have good results without coloring.
Acrylic is the most commonly used engraving material after wood, it can be easily cut and engraved in a variety of shapes and sizes, and is relatively low cost. Plexiglass has two production processes: casting and calendering, laser engraving is mainly used in the casting method of production of plexiglass, because it produces a very white frosting effect after laser engraving, and the original transparent texture to produce a sharp contrast, calendering method of production of plexiglass after laser engraving is still transparent, there is not a sufficient contrast effect. In the purchase of a surface off work you have to emphasize to the dealer to the high purity of the kind, otherwise buy back the material carving or cutting the possibility of melting the phenomenon.
